Emergency Dentistry

Our emergency dentists in Beaudesert offer these tips for what to do until you see us at BDF Dental:

  • What should I do if I have a severe toothache? — Rinse your mouth with warm water and gently floss around the tooth to remove any debris. Avoid placing aspirin directly on the tooth—it can burn the gums. We encourage you to please call us for treatment.
  • Can a knocked-out tooth be saved? — It is possible, but time is critical. Pick up the tooth by the crown (not the root), rinse it gently and try to place it back in the socket. If that’s not possible, store it in milk or saliva and get to us immediately.
  • What if I chip or break a tooth? — Rinse your mouth with warm water and collect any broken pieces if you can. Apply a cold compress to the outside of your face to help reduce swelling, and please call us to arrange care.
  • What should I do if my filling or crown falls out? — Keep the area clean and avoid chewing on that side of your mouth. Bring the filling or crown with you to your appointment so we can determine if it can be repaired or replaced.
  • What if I notice swelling or an abscess? — This often points to an infection that we believe may need immediate attention. Rinse with warm salt water to help draw out fluid and call us right away for treatment.
